What are the security threats to my data and computers?

There are many threats to your Company's data security. These include:

1) Worms, Viruses, Trojans, Spyware, and Malware
2) Hackers (both internal AND external)
3) Hardware failure, theft, fire, flood

1) Worms, Viruses, Trojans, and Spyware

The best way to keep these out of your Office is to have a Server acting as a firewall for your entire Office. Incoming email and files are automatically scanned for malware and removed before they reach your employees. SPAM, too, is automatically removed, avoiding exposing your employees and your company to wasteful, illegal, and often fraudulent messages.

More information about PC Safety.

2) Hackers

Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 provides a built-in firewall that helps protect each PC from internal and external attacks. A Microsoft Windows Small Business Server can be configured with various firewalls that protect your entire network from hackers and warn of attacks.

More security information, including firewalls, wireless networking, authentication and encryption.

3) Hardware Failure, Theft, Fire, Flood

Many businesses don't realize until too late just how fragile the valuable data on PC hard drives can be. Critical files can be deleted accidentally. And hard drives DO fail. Often with disastrous results. And what would you do in case of a fire or theft of your business computers? RTA will show you how to prepare for these emergencies.

For amazingly low cost, your Microsoft Windows Small Business Server can have mirrored (RAID) hard drives that reduce the chances of total hard drive failure to near-zero. And backups of all critical Company files are made automatically. Users can even recover files and emails that have been accidentally deleted.

How do I protect against these threats?

1) Install Antivirus and AntiSpyware software on your server and all your PCs.
2) Use Windows XP SP2 and Windows Server 2003 for your operating systems. Windows 98 and 95 are completely unsafe.
3) Install firewalls to protect against worms and hackers. RTA Information Technology is EXPERT in security and can securely install and configure a firewall. We are certified in Microsoft's ISA Server 2004, the industry's top firewall.
4) Use inexpensive, redundant (RAID 1) hard drives on critical computers. Also, run scheduled backups and keep copies offsite in case of fire, flood, or theft.
