Introducing RTA's
INSTA-OFFICE Technology
Myron Johnson, MCSE:
Security: 2003
RTA Information Technology, Tempe, Arizona
- Near-zero downtime of your desktops.
- "Near-Instant" restoration of desktop images
- Guaranteed fast, low-cost recovery of your Server in case of
disaster.
The two most troublesome elements in any office are:
1) All hard drives fail eventually.
2) Users make mistakes.
By avoiding these two pitfalls, INSTA-OFFICE Technology drastically cuts
your costs and cuts your downtime. INSTA-OFFICE is perfect for medical
offices, legal offices, manufacturing facilities. A must for any
business requiring high-uptime and fast disaster recovery.
How it works:
We combine RAID technology, high-speed backups, and virtual
server technology to keep constant images of your server(s).
We use thin-client technology to avoid the use of troublesome
desktop PCs. These aren't your "Father's thin-clients". These are
today's ultra-fast terminals that are impossible to distinguish from a
"real" PC. Except they generate 1/4 the heat and have 10 times the
reliability of "real" PCs. Your Users will never know the difference.
Until they make a mistake and introduce a virus or spyware or
accidentally delete something. When that happens (and it happens all the
time), we can do a
"Near-Instant" restore of yesterday's desktop, avoiding hours of
downtime and hundreds of dollars in cost. Plus, their hard drives will never fail, because there IS NO
HARD DRIVE.
Insta-Office Attacks the Two Largest Causes of Data Loss

Here's what our "Insta-Office" looks like:
A. Client Stations:
If it's a new office, these will be small, quiet, and cool Windows
terminals. They have full sound, USB, and network connections. There's
no hard drive, fans, or big power supply. You can use any monitor,
mouse, and keyboard that you desire. You'll run regular Microsoft Office
and any other business programs. But, instead of running on the
terminal, your programs and data are in your own, private, "Virtual PC"
on your Server. Everything is backed up daily and can be restored to a
previous day almost instantly.
B. Network:
The network is a normal (typically Gigabit) network.
C. Server(s):
Our standard office solution includes Microsoft's Windows Small Business
Server 2003. SBS 2003 gives your office it's own email server,
high-security remote access, built-in CompanyWeb, and a zillion other
features that you will use to run your business. The emphasis is on easy
cooperation and information sharing.
If it's a large office, we'll likely recommend a second Server, which
will either run your company's important programs or may hold each
User's "Virtual PC". The final design is very flexible
and will be modified to fit your needs.
Concerned about "Uptime"? "Disaster Recovery"?
You should be concerned. Server and PC downtime is expensive. Recovery
from major or minor disasters can make or break your company. We have a
deviously simple solution to keep you working.
We start with virtualized Servers and PCs. We'll "virtualize" as much
of your Office as we can. When we do that, it allows us to restore your
office ON ALMOST ANY PC. If a fire hits your office and destroys half
your terminals and your Server, we can replace them quickly with items
from any computer shop. We help you maintain full offsite backups of
your entire office and we can put you back together faster than anybody
else. You have an "office on wheels" that allows you to get back to
business virtually anywhere.
Uptime of your desktop PCs is ensured because we use full "Virtual
PC" technology. Each PC is actually a large file stored (and backed up
daily) on your Server. If a User makes a mistake and the PC is damaged,
we just restore yesterday's virtual PC image. It's fast and easy. Hard
drive failure, a major cause of desktop PC downtime and data loss, is
completely eliminated since THERE'S NO HARD DRIVE at the desktop level.
At the Server level, all hard drives are part of redundant systems that
are impervious to a single-drive failure.
